Creating in a time of Chaos
Firstly, I would really like to thank Theresa for supporting my effort to raise some funds for CERF+. As I write this, our nation has just seen the most catastrophic natural disaster, Hurricane Helene, and we are waiting for the next to land, Hurricane Milton, which is expected to be even more devastating. Theresa bid $200 and after shipping and fees, I will be donating $189.97 to CERF+.
I wish I could do more.
This is three sides of the same pot that I put up for auction.
And I guess that's really the whole point. As I am setting up in my new home in California, unpacking what seems to be an endless sea of boxes, figuring out how I'm going to create new work in this new space, I feel helpless and concerned for my friends in the ceramic community that have been so brutally impacted by these natural events.
I also feel a little bit selfish, as I'm setting up and getting ready to get back to making. I am wildly excited about the direction my work is taking me, I have loads of ideas I'm hoping to be able to get out into clay, and I really feel welcomed by the arts community in our new town. I've been given the privilege to continue to make, and I won't take that for granted.
I will be able to post these more regularly, as we get settled in our new home. I will soon be setting up a weekly and monthly schedule of tasks to get this little ceramic business back up and running again. Blogs and newsletters will be on that schedule.
I hope that wherever this finds you that you are happy, healthy and whole. And if you can, please visit CERF+'s website at https://cerfplus.org/ to learn more about what they do and maybe even give them a little money so they can continue their work in helping artists and craftspeople in crisis.
Thank you ♥
